BA History was the first subject taught in the early period in Thrissur, that time the state was known as Cochin. St. Thomas College was the earliest first-grade college at that time. And of course, history was the main subject.

Later the college is upgraded with many different courses, and the story of history also developed from time to time.  Now, the history department became one of the pillars of the college. And now along with B.A History PG programmes are also implemented. 

Faculties with the prominent background are the attraction of the History department from the older days itself. they have students always in the top rank for the university public examination.
