Sanskrit department of St. Thomas College has been working from the beginning of the college. Until now the department contributes a lot to the growth of this college. As we all know that the Sanskrit is one of the subjects in the list of Classic Languages. Indian culture is highly associated with the Sanskrit language.

The ancient literary works such as Upanishath and other holy books relate to Hindu religion are fully scripted in the Sanskrit language. The college has offered Sanskrit as a second language for the other pattern Courses. 

After Malayalam, the majority of the students take  Sanskrit as their second language. But the Sanskrit department always stands for the growth and development of this college. And trying to improve the influence of Sanskrit in between their students. For this purpose, they conduct various competition relating to college arts fest and also based on their academic reasons. This is helpful for students who are really enthusiastic about the subject.


Influence of Sanskrit in our Culture.


As per Hindu religion belief, Sanskrit s known as the language which is closely related to a god. History of Hindu religion is written in the Sanskrit language. Then the history of India from the very ancient time uses the language Sanskrit. The old great Indian books to the poems for preying to Hindu God is also written in Sanskrit. Now the translated version of those is available in Malayalam and in other languages.

The facts prove that old people live in India use Sanskrit as a manuscript. The evidence for such things is still there. The art form, music, paintings, everything has a connection with this language.
