The language department is one of the key concern for every arts and science college in Kerala. Because the soul of the is lives in our culture and language. Best writers are ever evolved from such an atmosphere. 

The Thrissur St. Thomas College Language Department also blessed with a number of talented peoples from various part of Kerala. Not only students but some number of prominent faculties with wide experience is also their blessing.

The language department is known as the General Department. Apart from the department students, students who study other UG programmes also choose Languages as their second paper. 

The Department of language at St. Thomas College has three languages, Malayalam, Hindi, English. Both UG and PG programmes. 


 The Three Departments of Language


The Malayalam Department is established during the early stages of the foundation. And the majority of the students opt Malayalam as their second language. Hence the college have many talented and creative peoples in the Malayalam language.

The Hindi department has its own way of existence. Faculties are the strength of the department. Hindi language department is established in 1964.

English language department exists from the inception stage of the college. It is established during 1939. They provide both UG and PG programmes. English department is the backbone of the entire department in the college.
