English department of St. Thomas College, Thrissur is came into existence from the very inception stage of the college. It started with a PG department at that time. Later an undergraduate course as part 3 Double main with History & English of equal status.

The famous Malayalam critics Mr Sankaran Namiar was one of the member of the department at early stages. All the faculties in the department from the beginning stage itself will be the best and prominent characters in the history of College.

The students of the department are from various areas of the district. And they are one of the backbones of this college. Actively participate in all the cultural events conducted in colleges. Also, win prizes in intercollege competitions too.

  • The Under Graduate programme in English
  • The postgraduate programme in English
  • Ph. D in English
The minimum qualification needed for graduation is plus two. and degree of PG. Various endowments are arranged by the department for the best performing students under a different category.
